About Roger Humphrey
Roger Humphrey began playing guitar in 1958 at the age of 10 and began teaching guitar in 1967. He was on faculty at Olivet College from 1987 to 2013 and Marshall’s School of Music in Lansing, MI since 1980. He has also served on the faculties of Lansing Community College, Kellogg Community College, Alma College, and Michigan State University. Humphrey’s success with young children was the subject of a feature story in MMR Magazine in 1994. Many of his students have gone on to successful music careers.
Humphrey has written Guitar Method books for adults and another method for very young children. He has written incidental music for the guitar, a series of Preludes for Organ, and scored several award-winning documentaries. His recordings “Classical Guitar Recital”, “Castle Music”, “Romantic Occasions”, and “Gentle Carols” have enjoyed international and domestic sales. His most recent recording “Sunday At Peace”, a CD of traditional hymns, was released in the fall of 2013.
